P7 Museum trip
11th Mar 2025
Exciting Day for Our Primary 7 Students!
Today, our Primary 7 children from Legamaddy had an incredible visit to the Newry and Mourne Museum, where they participated in a fascinating workshop led by the Centre for Community Archaeology (CCA) from Queen’s University Belfast.
This hands-on workshop allowed our students to dive into the world of archaeology, uncovering stories from the distant past and learning about ancient lives through the objects left behind. They examined ancient artefacts and created detailed scale plans of ancient ruins.
The children thoroughly enjoyed this enriching experience, and who knows, some might be inspired to pursue a career in archaeology in the future!
We are eagerly looking forward to joining them in a few weeks for a community dig on Erenagh Road, near our school, to see if we can uncover remains from a historic monastery that once stood there.
