Fair trade Bananas.
1st Feb 2017
As part of our learning on Fair trade the children played a game that traces the path of the banana as it is exported from its plantation in Latin America (or the Caribbean Islands) to their fruit bowl. Each group was given a role . (i) Banana worker (ii) Plantation owner (iii) Shipper (iv) Importer and ripener (v) shop or supermarket. The children in their groups had to decide how much of the 30p from each banana sold they should get for the jobs/work they do in the banana chain. They were surprised at the actual amount each gets. Here are a few photos to show our group work.
