Archaeological Dig

Our P7 class headed to Erenagh just outside of Downpatrick Co Down where they will be investigating a lost Medieval monastic site.  The investigation is taking place as part of the CCA’s ’Community Archaeology Programme Northern Ireland’ (CAPNI) which is funded via a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The children dug along the top level of the soil and interesting things emerged like flint and pottery. They will be digging over the next 2 weeks at this site and we can’t wait to see and hear what has been discovered.
